WHAT IS EQUIPMENT BREAKDOWN COVERAGE?

Equipment Breakdown coverage provides protection in the event of an unexpected mechanical or electrical breakdown of appliances and other types of mechanical equipment.  The breakdown must be unexpected and not caused by normal wear and tear.  An example would be damage caused by an electrical short or surge, low voltage, centrifugal force or pressure buildup.

Types of equipment covered are air conditioner units, heating equipment, compressors, computers, household appliances, motors, pumps and even woodworking tools!

While this coverage has been commonly available for commercial policies (boiler & machinery policies), it is now available for homeowners and farms.
